The Challenge
Socially conscious consumption can become a broad conversation about spending, business ownership, and community impact.
The learning need was to make the concept actionable by helping learners recognize everyday purchase opportunities and identify one recurring purchase they could intentionally redirect.
The Approach
Notice how everyday spending decisions can connect to personal values and community outcomes.
Consider purchasing options and examine how different choices may affect where money flows.
Identify one recurring purchase that could be directed toward a Black owned business.
Consider how small, consistent choices can align spending habits with personal priorities over time.
Experience the Course
The self paced course moves learners from awareness to application through realistic examples, scenario practice, misconception checks, interactive exploration, and reflection.
Learners compare everyday purchasing choices, examine potential community impact, apply what they learn, and connect to a directory resource for continued use after the course.

Design Process
The Action Map connects the organizational goal to observable learner behaviors. The Visual Storyboard translates that strategy into course content, interactions, feedback, media, and application.
Performance Strategy
Connects the organizational and performance goals to four strategy steps and five supporting learner behaviors.
Screen Level Design
Maps the instructional flow, learner interactions, feedback, visual direction, media, and development decisions across representative course states.
Design Decisions Behind the Build
The course narrows a broad consumer education topic to one manageable behavior: identify a recurring purchase and consider an intentional alternative.
Everyday services and purchases give learners recognizable situations for comparing options without requiring a complete change in their spending habits.
Myth and reality interactions address assumptions about availability, quality, professionalism, and cost that may prevent learners from acting on their intentions.
Application practice and a business directory resource give learners a concrete next step after the instructional experience ends.
Designed Performance Outcomes
This project demonstrates my ability to turn a broad social and economic topic into a focused behavior based learning experience. The design moves learners from awareness to one practical action through scenario practice, misconception correction, application, reflection, and transfer support.
A practical learning experience that helps consumers connect everyday spending decisions to intentional action.
